A roSe for emily

In William Faulkner's short story 'A Rose for Emily' ,we can see different sections of time which are put forward to make us observe the entire life of the main character Emily who is regarded as complicated and bizarre. The story is based on the woman who is once connected to the higher part of the society and gradually we can observe decrease of her status quo with in which she lives decays over time.Emily is portrayed as an eccentric, unbalanced character full of mystery, however, the reasons of that situation can be well understood if the life of Emily is closely scrutinized. For example,Emily has a father who has a dominant nature as he chases off Emily's suitors. The very father figure can make Emily tend to have an oppressive nature as well.Since Emily is not able to have a free life in which she can make her own choices, she becomes transformed in a controlling figure in her life after her father's death. We can see distinct instances of the very of her transformed characteristic when she refuses to pay taxes or her intention to buy poison since she regards herself as a law-maker who can choose her own rules. When she kills Homer who is about to be her husband with the poison she buys, she hides his body in the upstairs of her house which again declares her sense of control over somebody who is not alive. We can also correlate the house and Emily herself since like the house ,Emily is also once belongs to the elegant neighbourhood but now is vestige of a lost era.The house can outstand in the neighbourhood as an only one which represents a remaining of a dying world of Southern aristocracy.Emily who is constantly tried to be observed by her neighbours is once young and beautiful having a lot of suitors is now old and plump having Homer as her mere suitor. The house is a symbol of mystery since no one can observe inside it like Emily who is a distant figure who does not go outside and keeps herself away from other people. But only after her death, the people can intrude her house and her very private altar upstairs.

last classsss

at the last class we had a wonderful time i belive this year all the presentation groups are really willing to make the best presentation... its really different from my previous class most of the stutends do the readings and participate to class its makes the class more cheerful and enjoyable....the mini presentation questions that gruops asked encouraged the students to give an answer and open a conversation so the gruops didn't do all the work so my point is like that....this will go on as to the presantations continue also and presantation wouldn't be boring as before LOL =)

my gruop is really nice to work with and i can tell they all work really hard so iam happy to be a part of the group and i believe that we will make the best presantation....

good luck to everyone

3 ways of meeting oppression MLKING

today i have read the three ways that MARTIN LUTHER KING dealt with oppression... i appreciate the ways he approached the subject and find it interesting... the first way is not more welcoming to me than the others becasue we shouldnt give anything up even if we are overcome by it...hence it wouldn't regard the first way as a way to deal with oppression...We also shouldn't use violence as a device to achieve what we want even if it is freedom.Since Martin Luther King was a minister giving speeches to public,he wrote his writing as he was giving a speech. He also had a religious event(habel and cabel :I'm my brother's keeper)and integrated it into the subject very successfully.

this is my first so i hope its good ....
